Cognitive health is a real issue for each and everyone, with Alzheimer’s and other dementias becoming a personal threat and a societal challenge in many parts of the world. For women - who live longer and have fewer economic resources - these are painful realities. That’s why I’ve focused on adult onset neuro-generative diseases and created self-care tools to help ensure that neuro-regeneration is within reach of individuals worldwide.

I’m committed to ensuring that people can not just free themselves from the prison of dementia related illness, but also to giving them the chance to contribute to decision making around the data that their treatment produces. These are bold claims, but some of the world’s most effective health interventions have been the product of one individual’s belief and drive. For example Robert Jarvik’s invention of the artificial heart has saved the lives of thousands.

And so, when Carey Mulligen told the U.N. Security General, “Women are disproportionately affected by dementia. More women than men live with the condition, they provide the majority of care support and they face the greatest stigma” she could easily have been speaking for me. That’s my reason for spending several years exploring how to create digital technology products that liberate patients from one of the imprisoning effects of dementia-related illness:circadian disruption.
