At Surgery Hero (formerly known as Sapien Health) we believe that people going through surgery deserve more. They deserve the chance to influence their own experience. You wouldn’t run a marathon without putting in the training - surgery causes high levels of physical, mental and emotional stress and yet people are often turning up with just an overnight bag. Research has shown that people who undertake preparation for surgery are likely to have a lower risk of surgical complications, faster recovery from surgery and a lower rate of re-admission. Sometimes, preparation for surgery can help a person avoid surgery altogether. With that in mind, we’ve built Surgery Hero around the principles of behaviour change therapy. We offer whole-human support before and after surgery to ensure that our members have the opportunity to impact their own surgical outcomes.
