Sonostics, Inc.

New York, New York, United States

Sonostics' mission is to develop and make widely available medical device technology which slows or prevents the numerous health complications arising in older adults from age-related decline in cardiac output. This decline is often caused by atrophy of the soleus muscles in the lower legs, which are responsible for pumping fluid from the lower body back to the heart.

Leadership

Problem Statement

When the soleus muscles no longer function properly, body fluids pool into the legs when sitting or standing. As a result, cardiac output decreases, and blood pressure declines. Steep drops in blood pressure (postural hypotension) are common in older adults and lead to reduced brain blood flow, causing memory loss, coordination difficulties, and deficits in executive function—symptoms known as 'age-related cognitive decline.'

Core Technology

Non-invasive micromechanical stimulation and magnetic neuro-modulation to activate the soleus muscles.
