As a family and flight medicine physician in the U.S. Air Force, I frequently encountered poorly designed medical devices. It was frustrating to have the device's design impact how I practiced medicine. I chose to leave clinical practice and refocus my efforts on the development of medical devices. I have since gained educational and work experience securing a foundation in understanding the process of medical device development from ideation to commercialization. As a clinician, engineer, and designer, I speak a multitude of technical languages that allows me to serve as a liaison and facilitator in this demanding development cycle.rn
