OMG, so glad to be alive!

So I was going to open with how grateful I am for all of you, which I am.  Without your creativity and openness to innovation, healthcare would not be evolving so rapidly, and not to diminish that message, which is very true and very real, I had a near miss last night and my daughter as well as some great security and medical staff at the Ice Nine Kills Concert in NYC last night that saved me from death and or / serious damage. Like many of you, I gained about 8 pounds on Thanksgiving week and having been on a health kick for years and, as an adherent of fasting, I decided to do a two-day water fast that started Saturday.  I overshot a little and ended it at 53 hours on Monday as I was headed to a heavy metal concert with my daughter in a few hours and had been experiencing some lightheadedness.  So we get to the show and heard the first band.  We make our way up front, where I hoped to maybe protect my powder keg of a daughter from getting destroyed in the mosh pit or dropped while crowd surfing.  So the main event begins their set and the crowd is going nuts.  We laugh as the first crowd surfers accidentally kick us in our faces as we pass them around (this is pretty normal for a Metal concert these days) and I'm feeling a little horrified at an on-stage homicidal performance out of American Psycho  Not long after I began to feel really nauseous.  I wanted to tell my Daughter that I needed to go sit down but also felt bad about leaving her alone and was hoping it would pass, so I was a little torn.  The next thing I remember I am being carried out of the mosh pit by a huge security guy my Daughter.  I had passed out for three minutes in the middle of a rather violent crowd.  Abigail, my 4'11" 22-year old cutie pie had stood over me, started CPR, protected my head, banshee screamed for help over the band so they stopped playing (impressive, I know) and fought off anyone who was about to step on me, taking and giving many blows, bruises and scrapes in the process.  Finally, they turned on the lights and sent in a team to extract me.  She thought I was dying and, in truth, it could have happened if it weren't for her.  The irony of almost being killed at an Ice Nice Kills (sensitive content warning -it's pretty sick - don't click) concert where the stage show and lyrics include endless horror scenes as well as me thinking I was there to protect her is almost too much!  But they took us backstage and she got to see some of her favorite bands play from the VIP section.  I drank some water with electrolytes and was fine, so I'd say it was net positive, if a bit dangerous.  Needless to say, I won't be doing that again (the fasting plus entering a mosh pit I mean, I intend to do both again, but seperately :)

All this is by way of saying I have survived another day, thanks to my daughter and I am very very thankful.  Thank you Abigail!  Your father truly rejoices (which is the hebrew meaning of her name.)
