Hey Folks,
Long time no speak. Our last full NYC event was all the way back in May when we had a great panel, 100 of you attending Healthcare Reboot 2027 (over 100 photos posted!) and were talking about setting up a new Healthcare Innovation Hub in Mid-town NYC as well as seeding communities around the world. The event was fantastic and the goals were ambitious, but then we just disappeared. We did this for tragic reasons, losing several people to cancer and accidents since then. Let us take a moment to remember our Mother and Brother to you, who we lost on August 15th and June 17th. They were amazing, inspirational people who will be missed dearly. If you like the events we do and how I lead this community, it is to my Mother's credit. It is to her standard that I hold myself when running an event. Somehow she made it look a lot easier though :) She was CEO of several startups and led companies in an era where it was rare that a woman did that. I wrote her obituary last week, you can read it here if you like. Amazing woman. I also read a few pieces I wrote for my Brother Craig at the NYC Poetry Festival on Governor's Island where he was stationed. If you want to listen to that it is in a reel on my IG here.
And while we appreciate the support of our many friends from this community in this Summer of traumas, especially Gregg Masters, Christine Von Reasfeld, Ron Razmi, Deanna Dammers, Gail Ghatz, Grace Cordovano, Sadik Bizanti, Nime Schei, Joe Desidrio, Lauryn Woods and my partners Jon Fair and Rob and Heather DeLeonardis and many more, this is not why I am writing today.
I am writing to tell you the HIT Like a Girl Team is in NYC this week, promoting the #RoadtoHLTH and has an event in the morning in NYC. Finn Partners is hosting the HITlikeaGirl crew at their HQ on Broadway for a speed dating style then Hot Mic for the top teams. Winners will get a spot on their podcast AND be reviewed for investment and acceleration by MedStartr Ventures. They are on a tour around teh US making sure people know about the HLTH conference. To learn where they are next please visit https://www.hitlikeagirlpod.com/resources/join-us-on-our-roadtohlth
In honor of the late, great Donna Summer, we are calling the NYC version
Hot Mic in The City: It's Summer Pitches!
Be prepared for a vivacious morning where brilliant minds meet, greet, and compete! It's speed dating meets the elevator pitch: a chance for innovators to share their groundbreaking healthcare solutions in quick, impactful bursts! Tickets are free on the eventbrite site or for a $10 donation to the Sharp Index to reduce physician burnout and suicide on the meetup site here. Please support Janae Sharp in this important mission.
Who Should Pitch?
If you have a female founder that can go on the HIT like a Girl Podcast or are tackling issues that affect women in particular, you are invited to pitch. Each table will have a score card and the top rated teams will be allowed to pitch all at once.
It should be fun and different. Get ready for a good time!
Note this is a morning event for TOMORROW, Friday morning. We (MedStartr Ventures and some of our MedStartr Mentors that help us make investment decisions and sometimes do pilots, coinvest,...) will invite the winners to lunch and go deeper on the idea, so come on out and let's see what happens. We have a few more investments to make in fund II before moving on to fund III so get your chance now!
More MedMoNews next week. Please send any news you have to share to news@medstartr.com.
As always, we thank you for all you do to drive healthcare innovation forward faster and for being part of this community. I look forward to seeing you all soon.
Yours Truly,
Alex and Jon Fair
