- What problem are you solving?
- Traditional nurse call systems tell care teams that a patient needs help, but not what they need. Nurses are frequently interrupted by routine requests that could be prepared for or delegated to another member of the care team, while language and communication barriers can create additional delays. This lack of context forces nurses to triage requests manually, contributes to unnecessary trips and interruptions, and leaves patients waiting without knowing when help is coming, leading to possible falls.
- How do you solve it?
- PatientCompanion is an AI-enabled communication and request-management platform that gives care teams context before they respond. Patients communicate what they need using simple visual options, text, or voice in their preferred language. PatientCompanion translates and categorizes those requests, prioritizes them, and routes them to the appropriate member of the care team based on the hospital's workflow. Staff can see what a patient needs before entering the room, acknowledge requests, coordinate responses across the team, and use real-time analytics to understand demand and response times.

- In market and revenue-generating. PatientCompanion has been evaluated and deployed across Canadian hospital environments, including childbirth, medical/surgical, and women and child care units. Following a real-world evaluation supported by the CAN Health Network, Brightshores Health System moved PatientCompanion into procurement and continued deployment across its hospital system. The platform has now been used by more than 700 patients and healthcare workers, and we are expanding into additional healthcare environments and departments.

- We have collected real-world implementation and operational efficacy data across hospital deployments. In a three-month implementation across two childbirth units involving 606 patients and 794 patient requests, early findings included: • Up to a 56% reduction in median response time • Nurse-reported “very high” workload decreasing from 28% to 8.3% • 100% patient satisfaction among post-implementation survey respondents A separate CAN Health Network-supported implementation at Brightshores Health System found median response times of under three minutes across both evaluated units, with 100% of patient respondents reporting that the platform was easy to use and expressing high satisfaction. Following the evaluation, Brightshores proceeded with procurement. These are early real-world implementation findings rather than results from a randomized clinical trial. - What problem are you solving?
- With doctor burnout rates at record highs, and the number of patients that a doctor has to see in a day, we have to improve physician efficiency to make each visit smoother and more focused on care delivery. Taking a patients history is longest part of any doctors visit. Although doctors have perfected the art form, to improve care, this should partly be done prior to the visit.
- How do you solve it?
- Our fully trained conversational AI takes the patients full history prior to the visit, so the doctor walks in the room knowing the history and having a note for documentation.
